First Christian Church holds to these doctrines, principles and practices:

We Believe…

  • God is triune by nature—one being, three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. John 1:1–5; Genesis 1:1-26; Hebrews 1:1-4; Matthew 3:16-17, etc.
  • God the Son, Jesus, became flesh, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as an atoning sacrifice for our sins, and was resurrected bodily on the third day. John 1:14; John 3:16-17; Philippians 2:6-11; 1 Peter 2:24; Isaiah 53; Matthew 28:6; Romans 6:4
  • To become a born-again follower of Christ one must believe, repent and be baptized by immersion in accordance with the example given by the early church.
  • Mark 1:15; Acts 2:38; 1 John 1:9; Romans 6:4, 10:9-10
  • The Bible is God’s Word and is inspired (God breathed) by God. This inspiration has been preserved from its inerrant originals through the transmission and passing down of these documents in the early church. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 6:17
  • All who are indwelled by God the Holy Spirit are sealed in their salvation and gifted with spiritual gifts for the spreading of the Gospel and edification of the church. 1 Peter 4:10–11; 1 Corinthians 12, 6:19-20; Romans 8:9

Church Practice:

  • First Christian Church is an elder led church which ordains men who are qualified for the position of elder after careful vetting.  Our deacons, who serve under the eldership are also vetted to assure they meet the Biblical standards.     1 Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-9
  • The congregation bears responsibility to test what is taught and hold leadership accountable for any false teaching or error.     Hebrews 13:17; 1 John 4:1; 1 Thessalonians 5:19-22; Acts 17:11
  • Our church is one of discipleship.  To make disciples is commanded by Christ through the Great Commission.  This includes converting the lost and training up the believers to maturity, who will then go and do the same.      Matthew 28:16-20; Hebrews 5:12; 1 Peter 2:2;1 Corinthians 3:1-3

Covenantal Discipleship:

Being a covenant member of FCC, in accordance with our commitment to making disciples who make disciples who make disciples, requires our partnership as a family.  We must bear responsibility for one another in the discipleship of one another:

As disciples of Christ, we are called to…

  • Be active, not only in our presence with this body of believers but also in using our gifts for the Kingdom of God. Hebrews 10:25; 2 Timothy 1:6–7
  • Grow in knowledge of God’s Word, handling it well, and teaching it to others. 2 Peter 3:18; Colossians 1:9-10; 2 Timothy 2:15
  • Fellowship with and edify of the body of Christ, partaking in the LORD’s supper each week. Romans 12:3-8; Acts 2:46–47; Acts 2:42, 20:7; Luke 22:14-20
  • Pray and intercede for one another, the community, and the world. James 5:16; Romans 8:26, 12:12, Acts 2:42
  • Be good stewards of God’s provision and financially support FCC. 2 Corinthians 9:7; 1 Timothy 5:17-18;
Hebrews 13:16; Acts 2:44-45
  • Spread the Gospel through evangelism. 1 Peter 3:15-16; 2 Corinthians 5:20; 2 Timothy 4:5
  • Grow in maturity of faith, that we may also disciple others to maturity. Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 14:33; John 8:31
